The path 300 CAI crosses the path 350 CAI as soon as you arrive at Castellone on Monte Faito . Taking a short off-route you can reach the sanctuary of San Michele. It is one of the attractions of the Sorrento peninsula. The structure is located on the highest point of Monte Faito in the Pimonte locality.
The sanctuary is located at an altitude of 1261 meters, from which it is possible to admire a splendid panoramic view of Capri and Naples, and its history dates back to the sixth century.
The history of the sanctuary of San Miche le is linked to the figures of San Catello and of Sant’Antonino of which it is said that they found refuge together with the population against the incursions of the Lombards. Archangel Michael , appeared to them in a dream and suggested the construction of a chapel in his honor.
